Supported AI apps
StackTether works with any AI app on its approved list that supports remote MCP connectors with OAuth sign-in. Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok have been tested end to end. Each app has its own on/off switch per MSP, every switch starts off, and admins can allow or block apps per person.
Tested end to end
-
Claude
Testedclaude.ai, Claude Desktop, the mobile apps and Cowork, through a custom connector. Available on every Claude plan (the Free plan allows one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it and members connect). Calls are accepted only from Anthropic's published network range.
-
ChatGPT
TestedChatGPT apps and connectors (developer mode) on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. StackTether includes ChatGPT's standard
searchandfetchtools, so deep research can use your tickets and clients too. -
Perplexity
TestedCustom connectors on Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise. Perplexity registers itself; no client ID or secret is needed.
-
Grok
TestedConnectors on paid Grok plans, at grok.com. Grok registers itself; no client ID or secret is needed.
Approved, not yet confirmed end to end
These apps are on StackTether's approved list and have setup steps in the portal, but a full connection has not been confirmed yet. If you use one, tell us and we will help you set it up.
-
Gemini Enterprise
Ready to tryGemini Enterprise needs a ready-made client ID and secret. An admin creates them for the MSP in the portal (AI access, Create credentials) with a fresh 2FA code; they are shown once and work only for that MSP.
-
Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio
Ready to tryMicrosoft's agents can add StackTether as an MCP server with OAuth. Your Microsoft licence and Power Platform policies apply.
-
Cursor, VS Code and Google Antigravity
Ready to tryDeveloper tools and agents that connect from a tech's computer or through their vendor's sign-in page.
-
Local apps
Ready to tryApps that run on a tech's own computer, such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and the MCP Inspector. Local apps get 7-day approvals and can be limited to the MSP's country list.
The consumer Gemini app and GitHub Copilot's cloud coding agent do not support OAuth-based remote MCP servers today, so they cannot connect yet.
How connecting works
- An admin switches the AI app on for the MSP in the portal (AI access).
- The tech copies StackTether's connector address from the portal home page.
- In the AI app, the tech adds a custom connector with that address.
- The AI app opens StackTether's approval page; the tech signs in with password and 2FA and approves the app by name.
- The tech asks a question; the AI app calls StackTether's tools as needed.
AI app questions
- Which AI app should my MSP use?
- The one your team already uses and whose business plan meets your clients' data requirements. StackTether gives the same tools and safeguards to every app; the main differences are plan requirements and how each app handles your conversations.
- Can I allow ChatGPT for some techs and Claude for others?
- Yes. Switch both apps on for the MSP, then allow or block each app per person on the member's page.
- What happens when someone leaves?
- Pausing or removing a member, resetting their password or 2FA, or signing them out everywhere revokes every AI app approval they had at once.
- Do the AI apps see my vendor API keys?
- No. AI apps only get short-lived tokens for the signed-in tech. Vendor credentials stay in StackTether's vault.
